Celebrating his Life

June 25, 2016 Event

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center, pulled out all of the Stops.  They provided the forum, the Theater and all it entailed, as well as the entire Hanger Area for the Catered Luncheon.

With Mark Sheffler, starting the event off with a sincere welcome to all of the various friends, co-volunteers, and family members.  His heart felt speech spoke to all of the selfless time,
knowledge, and financial support David had provided, almost on a daily basis.

Speaking too about the products badly needed by the Museum and where David’s willingness to provide the funds, organize promotional activities, to bring in additional support, and physically participate in key events to further aid in their success.

Chopper-Spotter Story

David’s Generosity

Lee D LifterWas exemplified by the Docents and Volunteers wanting, if not needing, a device for moving skidded aircraft.  Anytime the Hanger was to be rented these individual
would have to configure all kinds of carts, dollies, or what have you, to pick up and move these several ton Helicopter out to the tarmac.  David was told that the board was to decide on the purchase of some means of minimizing the arduous lifting and use of the Museum’s Forklift.  Which led David to say, ‘…that is the dumbest idea I ever heard…’.  When he then grab his check book and, while writing out a check to pay for the whole thing, muttered, ‘… why should the Museum pay for this?’

And, even though David never got to see his generous gift in action, below is the Video will show the Chopper Spotter, now dubbed the “LD Lifter” to maneuver the Cobra out of the Hanger.
